Clicking filter buttons will filter results / list without confirmation of action. This can be considered an unexpected change and can confuse users, especially when the same action in another context needs confirmation.

Remediation Notes

There are different options to remediate this issue.

  • Confirming filtering by button click

  • Add hint / description of filter functionality prior to the applying interactive elements to make changes expected

Ensure, using semantic HTML elements for filtering options. Depending of single- or multi-selection is possible, radio buttons, checkboxes, or select inputs can be used. Ensure clear, visible labeling for all interactive elements (see 2.4.6 Headings and Labels).
